Saving CeeCee Honeycutt Read-Along Day Three

How the Read-Along Works

Each day we will read a section of the book Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman together.  After reading each section, please feel free to comment, and add your thoughts about the book.  The more input, the better this works!  Comment as little or as much as you want, and feel free to stray from the discussion starters if you have something else about the book you really want to discuss.  Most importantly, have fun as we read this book together!

Read-Along Day 3:  Chapters 5-6 pgs. 45-64

Hope you are enjoying our read-along!  This book has to be one of my favorite Howard County Read books of all time.  I adore CeeCee and her love of reading, but now she is learning all about the remarkable women of Savannah.  In this section we meet one of my favorite characters in this novel, Oletta.  Just thinking about her cinnamon rolls makes my mouth water.  Sure wish I had her recipe!

Discussion Starters:
  1. Have you ever shared CeeCee’s experience of watching out the back window while you pulled away from someone, or somewhere?
  2. With 6 bedrooms in the Savannah house to choose from, why did CeeCee choose the sleeping porch?
  3. What is CeeCee’s first impression of Oletta? How long does it to take for it to change?
  4. What is Oletta’s prescription for healing CeeCee?
  5. When did CeeCee know that she had “a girlfriend in Savannah?"
