Saving CeeCee Honeycutt Read-Along Day Eight

Read-Along Day 8:   Chapters 15-16 pg. 149-173

I can't believe we are almost half way through our read-along!  Remember our last day of reading will be October 19th, the date the author visits us here in Kokomo!  Come to meet her and hear her speak at IUK's Havens Auditorium at 7:00pm October 19th.  I really can't wait to meet her and hear all about how she came up with this remarkable story.

Now that we have reached the half way point, what do you think of this novel?

Discussion Starters:

  1. The story of Chessie’s stones is really quite beautiful. How did the story help great great great grandmother Omu and her descendants? How do they help CeeCee?
  2. How does the racial situation of the 1960’s affect the outcome of the assault on Nadine ?
  3. What information does CeeCee gain by reading the crumpled up newspaper?
  4. CeeCee asks the eternal question—“Why does God allow bad things to happen?” Do you have an answer?

How the Read-Along Works

Each day we will read a section of the book Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman together. After reading each section, please feel free to comment, and add your thoughts about the book. The more input, the better this works! Comment as little or as much as you want, and feel free to stray from the discussion starters if you have something else about the book you really want to discuss. Most importantly, have fun as we read this book together!
