Saving CeeCee Honeycutt Read-Along Day Nine

Read-Along Day 9:   Chapters 17-18 pg. 174-197

Well, we have almost made it through the second week of our read-along!  I hope you have been enjoying the book, or at the very least finding it interesting.  I love the chapters we are reading today, because it gives you some nice insight into both CeeCee and Oletta.  I also adore meeting Aunt Sapphire--she and the other ladies at Green Hills were a riot.

Discussion Starters:

  1. At Green Hills, CeeCee experiences the saddest 5 seconds of her life. Have you ever had an experience like that?
  2. When Sapphire sees that CeeCee is white, she tells her to “sit in the shade so you don’t hurt my eyes”. Have you found other clever phrases in the book so far that you have enjoyed?
  3. Would you enjoy living at Green Hills?
  4. What do you think of Miz Goodpepper’s use for duct tape?
  5. Why doesn’t CeeCee like parades?
  6. What finally caused Oletta to change her mind about using the swimming pool?

How the Read-Along Works

Each day we will read a section of the book Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman together. After reading each section, please feel free to comment, and add your thoughts about the book. The more input, the better this works! Comment as little or as much as you want, and feel free to stray from the discussion starters if you have something else about the book you really want to discuss. Most importantly, have fun as we read this book together!
